To make things a little easier for you we have put together the answers to some of the most common questions we get asked. If you are looking to get a tax refund, or have enquiries regarding your expenses, then the answers below will help start things off. Q. How will I know if I have overpaid tax, I am employed?

A. If you have had more than one employer at one time, changed jobs, been out of work, worked part time or your employer has simply used the wrong tax code then it is possible you have paid too much tax.

Q. How much could I get back?


A. This depends very much on your personal circumstances. One in three people are entitled to a refund. And as we offer a no-win no-fee service you have nothing to lose by enquiring!

Q. I am self employed, and I am worried about completing a tax return?


A. If you are self employed then you do have to complete a tax return. You will need to register as self employed with HMRC first.

Q. I think I am on emergency tax, can you help?


A. On your payslip, please check to see if your tax code ends W1 (Week 1) or M1 (Month 1) or BR, then your employer is using the emergency tax code and you are entitled to claim. 

Q. I use my own private vehicle for work, and a friend said you can claim back travelling expenses?


A. If your employer doesn’t pay you a mileage allowance or it is less than 40p per mile then you are entitled to claim a tax refund.

Q. How much am I entitled in regards to claiming back travelling costs?


A. Business miles for the first 10,000 miles is now 45p per mile, then it’s 25p per mile thereafter. If your employer has reimbursed you the amount will be deducted accordingly.

A. You can claim for Business Mileage , Accommodation away from home, Uniform laundering, Working From Home, Tools and Equipment , Training, Professional Subscriptions / Journals etc etc
